2026 Update
What Changed for National ID Registration in 2026
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), under PhilSys, has simplified the process. The old pre-registration portal (register.philsys.gov.ph) is no longer required or active for new applications.
Walk-In Is Standard
Go directly to any PhilSys Registration Center. Most accept walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis.
No Online Pre-Registration
You no longer need to pre-register or book online for Step 1. The old national portal is inactive.
Same-Day TRN
You complete demographic validation and biometrics, then receive your Transaction Reference Number the same day.
Some Regional Exceptions
A few busy centers, especially in Cebu, still use local appointment or queuing systems.
Step by Step
How to Register for a National ID (Walk-In 2026)
From finding a National ID registration center to getting your TRN slip, here is the full walk-in process in five simple steps.
1
Find a Registration Center
Check the official list at philsys.gov.ph/registration-center. Centers include PSA offices, malls (SM, Robinsons), LGU halls, and mobile National ID on Wheels units.
2

Bring originals. One primary document is usually enough: a PSA birth certificate plus a photo ID, a Philippine passport, a driver’s license, or a UMID.
3
Verify at the Center
Submit your documents for verification by the staff at the counter.
4
Complete Biometrics
Have your photo, fingerprints, and iris scan captured, then review your information for accuracy.
5
Get Your TRN Slip
Receive your Transaction Reference Number slip immediately. This is your receipt for tracking and claiming.
What to Bring
Documents You Need for National ID Registration
Bring originals. A single primary document is usually enough, with secondary documents accepted if needed.
PSA Birth Certificate
Pair it with any government-issued photo ID. This is the most common primary combination.
Philippine Passport
A valid passport works as a standalone primary document.
Driver’s License or UMID
Both are accepted as primary photo identification.
Secondary Documents
If you lack a primary document, supported secondary IDs are accepted to verify your identity.
